365 Days • 200+ Community Events
Palmer knows fun. We have the year-round events to prove it.Palmer is known for its craft markets, community events and extreme high-altitude races and ski races. Palmer knows how to throw events with a small town charm that brings people back year after year.
During Winter, enjoy ski races in Hatcher Pass, Colony Christmas Days and a gathering every weekend in and around Palmer. Whether you’re a crafter, a bluegrass fan, a gun aficionado, or a dog lover, our community has an event for you.
During Summer, start the summer off with Colony Days and support local artisans, or find yourself every friday in the heart of downtown enjoying Friday Fling. Summer Mountain running races abound, with Alaska’s toughest mountain race, The Matanuska Peak Challenge, that tests runners stamina and athleticism. If your around in late Summer, you must visit the Alaska State Fair, one of Alaska’s largest events where you can see record breaking giant vegetables and a menagerie of Alaska’s best craftsman, chefs, and artists coming together for this 13 day event.
*Please note that due to COVID-19 many events for 2020 were moved or cancelled.*
