SUMMARY:Artist of the Week: Samantha Vetter
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Palmer Museum of History and Art as we feature Samantha Vetter\, a Palmer-raised artist whose work is deeply inspired by Alaska’s landscapes\, wildlife\, and outdoor adventures. \nGrowing up surrounded by Alaska’s natural beauty\, Samantha developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors through camping\, hiking\, kayaking\, and exploring the state’s diverse ecosystems. Their passion for studying native species\, gardening\, and foraging informs much of their artistic perspective. Beyond their creative work\, they are dedicated to supporting youth through Scouting programs that encourage leadership\, advocacy\, and community engagement.\nThis week’s exhibit explores the forests\, habitats\, and landscapes that are vital to Alaska’s bird populations. Inspired by artists such as Alice Neel\, Vincent van Gogh\, and Bob Ross\, the collection blends impressionistic influences with a love of nature and wildlife. Chickadees\, a personal favorite of the artist\, appear throughout the exhibit as recurring subjects\, offering viewers a glimpse into the environments these resilient birds call home. \nAdmission is free. Come experience this charming collection and celebrate the beauty of Alaska’s birds\, forests\, and wild places. 🐦🌲🎨✨

SUMMARY:Hot Summer Nights Car Show
DESCRIPTION:It’s time for the Hot Summer Nights Car Show in Downtown Palmer. Saturday August 8th\, 2026\, from 5pm to 9pm. According to the 7-day forecast it looks like it will be warm in the low 70’s with a 30 percent chance of rain so that probably means cloudy. Exquisite Urban Tastes and Pizza Peddler are the scheduled Food Truck that will be there to help feed the hungry crowd as well as all the many fine restaurants on S. Colony Way in downtown Palmer. If we have a large turnout\, (last year we had 115 registered vehicles) and even though it is not mandatory I would strongly recommend that you pre-register your vehicle. It will save a lot of time in line. Just DM or Email your name\, contact number and vehicle description and we will do the paperwork. We will have a designated line for pre-registration. So all you have to do is pick up your vehicle ID card. As with all of our shows you must register your vehicle so we can have an accurate record of participation. You don’t need to be signed up for voting for People’s Choice so if you don’t want votes just let me know and I won’t put a number on your ID Card. Remember it is always FREE to enter and FREE to attend so don’t let any scammers get you. Rain or shine we will be there so we hope to see you there also.

SUMMARY:Emma Hill: A Homecoming Concert
DESCRIPTION:Please join The Palmer Arts Council in welcoming to back to Palmer\, Emma Hill. It has been far too long since Emma has performed in her hometown\, and were excited to host her in concert at one of the most iconic Palmer venues\, Vagabond Blues! \nSince 2007\, Emma Hill has been creating and performing original music in a professional capacity. Her latest full-length album is called Park Songs. Nature is one of the biggest inspirations in her writing\, leading her to immerse herself in natural spaces to fuel her creativity. Growing up in the small Alaskan village of Sleetmute and traveling worldwide\, Emma has worked hard to establish herself as a force in the music world. Her albums have received national recognition\, and she has toured both nationally and internationally. \nHer current project\, Bird Songs\, explores the intersection of music\, nature\, and climate awareness. Initiated during an artist residency at Studio 88 near Chiang Mai\, Thailand\, the project incorporates isolated birdsongs from Thailand and Alaska as musical prompts\, weaving them into compositions that address themes of climate change\, existential crisis\, and the human experience. With Bird Songs\, she emphasizes climate grief and the urgency of appreciating the natural world as it exists today. \nSplitting her time between writing and working within the local Anchorage music scene\, Emma remains dedicated to keeping music alive wherever she goes\, fostering artistic communities and sharing her love of storytelling through song. \nAdmission:\n$20 General Admission\n$15 PAC Members and Students

SUMMARY:2026 Fall Studio Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Palmer Arts Council will be hosting our second yearly artist studio tour this October! We had so much fun connecting our community to our local artists and businesses last fall that we want to do it again!\nThis event is a self-guided tour of Palmer area artists studios and local downtown businesses who will be hosting artists without a Palmer art studio location. Participants will be given an event map and will tour the participating locations at their own speed.\nStay tuned as artists and locations are finalized. This year we are increasing our tour to ten stops you can make\, with even more artists planned than last year! As you move from space to space you will have the opportunity to connect with local artists\, learn about their creative process\, enter a few of their working spaces\, and purchase art you love!\nEach stop will have appetizers and beverages to enjoy. The last hour will be a final party at Lekker where everyone will gather and raffle prizes will be drawn.\nTickets will be available for purchase starting September 1st. The cost is $30 general admission and $20 for PAC members. Tickets will be limited to 150 participants so you will want to purchase your ticket before the event fills up!\nWe hope to see you at this fun night of supporting the PAC and celebrating artists in Palmer!
