SUMMARY:Hot Summer Nights Car Show
DESCRIPTION:It’s time for the Hot Summer Nights Car Show in Downtown Palmer. Saturday August 8th\, 2026\, from 5pm to 9pm. According to the 7-day forecast it looks like it will be warm in the low 70’s with a 30 percent chance of rain so that probably means cloudy. Exquisite Urban Tastes and Pizza Peddler are the scheduled Food Truck that will be there to help feed the hungry crowd as well as all the many fine restaurants on S. Colony Way in downtown Palmer. If we have a large turnout\, (last year we had 115 registered vehicles) and even though it is not mandatory I would strongly recommend that you pre-register your vehicle. It will save a lot of time in line. Just DM or Email your name\, contact number and vehicle description and we will do the paperwork. We will have a designated line for pre-registration. So all you have to do is pick up your vehicle ID card. As with all of our shows you must register your vehicle so we can have an accurate record of participation. You don’t need to be signed up for voting for People’s Choice so if you don’t want votes just let me know and I won’t put a number on your ID Card. Remember it is always FREE to enter and FREE to attend so don’t let any scammers get you. Rain or shine we will be there so we hope to see you there also.

Their last record Dance Songs For Hard Times went #1 on the Billboard\, iTunes and Sirius XM Blues Charts and was produced by Grammy winner Vance Powell. The record was critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone\, Relix\, Popmatters\, Guitar World\, American Songwriter\, No Depression\, Glide\, Wide Open Country\, Paste\, American Blues Scene and many more!\nTheir new record\, Honeysuckle was produced and recorded by Reverend Peyton and mixed by six-time Grammy winner Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton\, Jack White). The record features many special guests\, including gospel music group The McCrary Sisters on the song “Manger\,” Blues Music Hall of Famer and Grammy-nominated harmonica player Billy Branch who plays on the Blind Lemon Jefferson song “Nell (Prison Cell Blues)\,” Grammy award-winning and IBMA’s 10-time Fiddle Player of the Year Michael Cleveland plays on “Freeborn Man” and Colton Crawford from The Dead South plays banjo on “The Good Die Young.”

DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Palmer Museum of History and Art as we feature Samantha Vetter\, a Palmer-raised artist whose work is deeply inspired by Alaska’s landscapes\, wildlife\, and outdoor adventures. \nGrowing up surrounded by Alaska’s natural beauty\, Samantha developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors through camping\, hiking\, kayaking\, and exploring the state’s diverse ecosystems. Their passion for studying native species\, gardening\, and foraging informs much of their artistic perspective. Beyond their creative work\, they are dedicated to supporting youth through Scouting programs that encourage leadership\, advocacy\, and community engagement.\nThis week’s exhibit explores the forests\, habitats\, and landscapes that are vital to Alaska’s bird populations. Inspired by artists such as Alice Neel\, Vincent van Gogh\, and Bob Ross\, the collection blends impressionistic influences with a love of nature and wildlife. Chickadees\, a personal favorite of the artist\, appear throughout the exhibit as recurring subjects\, offering viewers a glimpse into the environments these resilient birds call home. \nAdmission is free. Come experience this charming collection and celebrate the beauty of Alaska’s birds\, forests\, and wild places. 🐦🌲🎨✨

SUMMARY:Stories in Stone: Palmer Pioneer Cemetery Tour
DESCRIPTION:This year’s tour\, Hearth & Homestead: Matriarchs of the Midnight Sun\, honors the women who built Alaska from the inside out — raising families\, feeding strangers\, and holding households together under the midnight sun. Visitors will hear the living histories of 12 remarkable matriarchs\, brought to life by local presenters among the headstones. \nAmong those featured are two women who each lived to 102\, embodying Alaskan endurance and fortitude. One raised six children alone on a subsistence homestead\, hunting\, gardening\, and sewing to keep her family fed through long winters. The other opened her home and heart to generations of Palmer travelers\, offering a warm meal\, a clean bed\, and the kind of hospitality that defined frontier Alaska. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Artist of the Week: Richard Rearick
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Palmer Museum of History and Art as we welcome Richard Rearick\, an Alaska-born artist whose work celebrates the landscapes\, wildlife\, and natural beauty that have shaped a lifetime of exploration and inspiration. \nBorn and raised in Anchorage\, Richard grew up camping\, fishing\, and experiencing Alaska’s outdoors firsthand. After attending the University of Idaho\, he returned home to Alaska\, settling in Eagle River\, where he raised a family and built a career as an architect. While family and professional commitments left limited time for artistic pursuits\, his passion for creativity remained constant. \nInspired by the legacy of his mother\, Alaska artist Victoria Rearick\, he began painting shortly before her passing and has since immersed himself in the creative process. Working primarily in acrylics\, he draws inspiration for his paintings from decades spent hiking throughout Eagle River\, the Chugach Mountains\, Hatcher Pass\, and other iconic Alaska landscapes. \nHis artwork has received numerous honors\, including multiple awards at the Alaska State Fair. His design “Raven Spirit” was selected as the 2025 Fur Rondy 90th Collector Pin\, while “Mother Moose” was chosen for the 2026 Fur Rondy Collector Pin. Most recently\, the Alaska Railroad selected his artwork “Ship Creek Crossing” as its 2026 annual print. \nThis week’s exhibit showcases a collection of acrylic paintings inspired by Alaska’s rugged landscapes\, diverse wildlife\, and abundant waterways. Featuring scenes from mountain peaks\, forest trails\, and wild places across Southcentral Alaska\, the exhibit captures the beauty and character of the places the artist has explored throughout his life. Through a realistic yet expressive style\, these works invite viewers to experience the wonder of Alaska’s natural world.\nAdmission is free. Join us in celebrating local art and the landscapes that make Alaska extraordinary. 🏔️🦅🎨✨
